Let’s Play Two
By Blake VandeBunte • Sep 13th, 2008 • Category: 2008 seasonAfter last night’s game in Chicago was rained out, the Tigers and White Sox will play two games today (weather permitting). According to ESPN.com, Kenny Rogers will start game one and Zach Miner will start game two.
Rogers is only 9-13 this season and is probably making one of the final starts of his impressive career. If Rogers manages to pick up two more losses this season he will join Justin Verlander in the 15 loss club. The last time two Tigers pitchers lost at least 15 games in the same season was in 2003 when Jeremy Bonderman, Mike Maroth and Nate Cornejo all actually had at least 17 losses. Fond memories, right?
Rogers last started against the White Sox back on June 12th and had arguably his best start of the season. The Gambler managed to throw 8 innings and gave up only four hits and an unearned run. Obviously, it would be great to see him duplicate that performance today. Miner started against the Sox on August 7th and also had some success. Zach lasted six innings and gave up one earned run to pick up a win.
Game one is scheduled to start at 3:55 while game two is set to go at roughly 7:30. The Weather channel is calling for a 60% chance of rain in Chicago up until midnight. If they do manage to play these games today it’ll be pretty wet.

Good luck with that indeed. If they can’t even play one today, this is going to be a mess. The Tigers and White Sox will probably have to play a game after the official end of the season.
