Larish Is Back

By Blake VandeBunte • Aug 27th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Chris Lambert, Jeff Larish

Less than 24 hours after losing his big league debut, Chris Lambert was sent right back to where he came from (Toledo).  Don’t fret though Chris Lambert fan club, he’ll be back with the Tigers on September 1.

Taking Lambert’s place on the active roster is Jeff Larish.  According to the Detroit Free Press, Larish will start at third base tonight against the Cleveland Indians.  Larish has been playing more and more at third as the Tigers look for a place where the guy can get some at bats.  He is a first baseman by trade but Miguel Cabrera is pretty set over there.

The move was made necessary when Carlos Guillen hurt his back earlier in the week.  The Tigers will probably start Larish and Ryan Raburn over there most of the time as the baseball calender winds down to a close.

Even though Lambert is back at Toledo it appears likely that he’ll get at least another start.  With rosters set to expand on Monday the Tigers can call him right back up and plug him into the rotation as if he never left.

To sum all of this up, expect to see plenty of Lambert and Larish in September.
