Covering the ups and downs of the Detroit Tigers.

Link-Mania!!

Today is an off day as the Tigers and their fans get ready for a HUGE weekend with the Chicago White Sox.  Before I get to the links, I have a semi-amusing anecdote about this upcoming weekend:

My Dad and I have the 27 game ticket plans.  We had tickets for this Sunday’s game.  This Sunday also happens to be my Mom’s birthday.  What better way to spend your birthday than at the ballpark, right?  Right.  So we thought it would be fun if instead of just my Dad and I going (and leaving my mom alone on her birthday) we sell our two seats and buy four off of ol’ Stub Hub so my mom and my wife could come to the game.  Again, sounds great, right?  Here’s the catch.  Instead of tickets prices going down closer to game time (as they usually do on Stub Hub) ticket prices are going through the sky.  I sold our seats in section 141 (nice seats) and now we (my Dad) are stuck looking at seats in section 142 (worse than our usual) at $70 a pop!  Good for the Tigers, bad for us.

So, ticket prices may go down here right before the game, but if they don’t I’ll be happy to watch the game at my parents house.  However, if you are planning to go to a game or two this weekend, I hope you already have your tickets.  If you don’t, get ready to shell out some serious cash.

Here are the links:

  • Here is a link to Stub Hub for tickets to Sunday’s game.
  • The Tigers Blog version of Bill James is Lee at Tiger Tales.  He has a great post up that looks at the idea of “saving runs for tomorrow”.  The Tigers have put up some massive games this season, see how they follow those up.
  • RotoExperts has some video up of Tigers phenom, Rick Porcello.  Good stuff.
  • Is there something wrong with Freddy Dolsi?  Ian at Bless You Boys has the scoop.
  • One of the nice things Bill does at Detroit Tigers Weblog everyday is a wrap up of Tigers Minor League actions.  Here’s the latest recap.
  • Mack Avenue Tigers does a nice job of recapping the Tigers sweep in Kansas City.  Ditto The Daily Fungo.  Decent time to be a Tigers fan.
  • At The Wayne Fontes Experience, Big Al puts together a list of things that could be more surprising than the play of Armando Galarraga.
  • Back in February, I interviewed The Hold Steady.  They released a new album last week and it is absolutely blowing upGood for them.  If you don’t own an album of theirs yet, what are you waiting for?
