The Spot Starters

Covering the ups and downs of the Detroit Tigers.

Tigers and Padres

Everyone ready for the much anticipated rematch of the 1984 World Series?  The whole world will be watching.  Okay, so this weekend’s Tigers and Padres series isn’t that big of a deal, but I am really looking forward to it.

Tonight, if you are able to watch the game, you’ll get to see living legend Greg Maddux take the mound.  Maddux has 350 wins.  The only pitcher with more wins that threw during my lifetime was Roger Clemens, clearly his career is tainted.  Getting to see Maddux pitch is a treat, although I’d like to see him get hit pretty hard tonight.

The series will be played in San Diego which is about the most extreme pitchers park in all of baseball.  That should keep the scores down and help the Tigers pitchers (especially someone like tonight’s starter, Eddie Bonine).

Tonight’s game is set to start at 10:05pm.  It’s nice it’s a weekend so that more fans will be able to stay up all night and check out the Tigers.  I suggest you follow the game thread over at www.blessyouboys.com, we have a good time in those things.
