Clete is Back

By Blake VandeBunte • Jun 18th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Brent Clevlen, Clete Thomas

After today’s 7-2 win over the Giants the Tigers brought Clete Thomas back to the big leagues.  Clete has been on he DL after spending time in Toledo and with the Tigers.  Heading back down to Toledo is Brent Clevlen.

I have admit, I think I’d rather have Clevlen.  He hasn’t shown that he can make as consistent of contact as Thomas does but I think it’s there.  Most importantly, I love have Clevlen in the field.  He has a cannon for an arm and that’s a nice weapon to have.  This isn’t to say that Thomas is chopped liver, I just would have liked to have a better look at Clevlen.

Overall, I like the Tigers strategy with the young outfielders this season.  So far we’ve been able to see Clevlen, Thomas, and Matt Joyce in some extended visits up to Detroit.  Hopefully Brent will go down to Toledo and work on his game some more and you have to think he’ll resurface back in Detroit at some point this season.
