Tigers Win!

February 26th, 2008 Posted in 2008 season, Jordan Tata, Michael Holliman, Scott Sizemore, Todd Jones

Okay, so it’s not that big of a deal but the Tigers won today. They defeated Florida Southern College 17-4. The Tigers scored in every inning but the seventh and while the competition wasn’t too strong they did club five home runs. The starters played in the first inning as the Tigers batted around. Tiger regulars Miguel Cabrera, Placido Polanco, and Brandon Inge all went deep for Detroit as did young middle infielders Scott Sizemore and Michael Holliman.

Todd Jones threw a 1-2-3 first inning and Jordan Tata came in and struggled, walking three and giving up all four runs in 1 2/3 innings. Freddy Guzman who is trying to catch on as the fourth outfielder had an impressive game going 3-4 with 2 runs including a double and a triple.

The Tigers will face the Mets tomorrow and the “real” spring training games start. Good times.

One major league scout says teams should be prepared for the Tigers to score six runs per game this year. 1000 runs may be a real possibility. Has that been done?
