Swing and a Miss

Guys like Curtis Granderson and Brandon Inge are products of the Tigers farm system and have been positives for the organization, but boy do they strike out a lot. Granderson and Inge had interesting seasons in 2009, hitting a combined 57 home runs and striking out 311 times. That 311 really stands out. Wow. Here are the Tigers that have struck out at least 150 times in a season.

- Brandon Inge (2009): 170
- Melvin Nieves (1996) 158

Clearly this is more recent issue since every one of these seasons has happened in the last 20 years. Strike outs were not as big a part of the game before this, but it did happen.
