Did Pudge Juice?

By Blake VandeBunte • Feb 17th, 2009 • Category: Ivan Rodriguez

According to Ivan Rodriguez, “only God knows” if his name will show up on the list of players that failed a drug test that tested for performance enhancing drugs. Sure, God might know, but shouldn’t Pudge know that as well? Stupid steroids.

What A Weekend

By Blake VandeBunte • Sep 2nd, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Ivan Rodriguez, Justin Verlander

I think most people try to relax over Labor Day weekend.  I guess I did my fair share of relaxing, but Sunday and Monday were like a day of pretty intense labor.  Anyone who was at Comerica Park on Sunday or Monday knows what I’m talking about.  The weather was perfect for water sports but [...]

FYI

By Blake VandeBunte • Aug 28th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Brandon Inge, Ivan Rodriguez

Remember how much most people hated that Pudge trade?  While Kyle Farnsworth hasn’t exactly panned out, the deal is looking like a major money saver at the very worst.
Pudge just hasn’t played well at all for the Yankees.  The deal went down on July 30th and the Tigers made the switch from Rodriguez behind the [...]

Pudge Traded to the Yankees!!

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 30th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Ivan Rodriguez, Kyle Farnsworth

The Tigers traded Pudge Rodriguez to the New York Yankees today. As bizarre as that sounds, you’ll never believe who Dombrowski took for the guy, Kyle Farnsworth!!
Kyle Farnsworth. Seriously.
I’ll do some more research and post it later.
**Later**
So apparently the deal really is Ivan Rodriguez to the Yankees for Kyle Farnsworth. I’ve learned [...]

Detroit Should Not Be Buyers

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 29th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Edgar Renteria, Ivan Rodriguez, Will Ohman

The trade deadline is now only two days away and the Tigers are being mentioned in a few trade rumors.  The Tigers are one of several contenders who have asked the Braves about lefty reliever, Will Ohman.  Most rumors involving the Tigers have to do with them picking up pitching for the stretch run.  I [...]

Tigers Lose in Baltimore

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 18th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Armando Galarraga, Ivan Rodriguez, Magglio Ordonez

The Tigers lost tonight. I was out of town for a few days but was able to listen to last night’s win on the radio. I was at my parents cottage on Lake Michigan. Let me tell you, listening to a Tigers win while watching the sun set on Lake Michigan is [...]

Nice Try, Todd Jones

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 4th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Ivan Rodriguez, Joel Zumaya, Justin Verlander, Matt Joyce, Michael Hollimon, Todd Jones

The Tigers won 8-4 last night.  Todd Jones came on with an 8-2 lead in the ninth and had to be pulled with two outs in the inning.  Jim Leyland did not feel comfortable with him out there protecting what had turned into an 8-4 lead.  Fernando Rodney needed one pitch to get the last [...]

Tigers Win Again

By Blake VandeBunte • Jun 22nd, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Ivan Rodriguez, Justin Verlander

The Tigers won their fourth series in a row with their 5-3 win over the Padres today.  Justin Verlander got the win and was dominant but terribly inefficient.  Verlander struck out 10 in 5.1 innings but also walked five and needed 115 pitches to get to that point.
The club got homers from Magglio Ordonez and [...]
