K-Rod Signing Good for Tigers?

Francisco Rodriguez is on the verge of signing with the New York Mets. His contract is reportedly for a lot less than he thought he we could six months ago. With his price driving down the price of closers, does this bring the Tigers even closer to Kerry Wood?

The Tigers bullpen was a complete joke in 2008. What’s the quickest way to remedy that situation, throw $7M at Jack Wilson or $10M on Kerry Wood? The Tigers need that overwhelming presence in the bullpen in 2009. Make it happen Mr. Dombrowski.

Clete Thomas is having Tommy John surgery.  This is a HUGE deal for pitchers, not quite a huge for a position player.  Thomas is quite sure he sustained the injury way back in June.  His performance has suffered since then so that makes a bit of sense.  He should be good to go by spring.
