The Good and The Bad

By Blake VandeBunte • Mar 15th, 2009 • Category: 2009 Season, Dontrelle Willis, Eddie Bonine, Mike Maroth, Nate Robertson

In Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays there were terrible performances (Dontrelle Willis and Mike Maroth) and good performances (Nate Robertson and Eddie Bonine). The Tigers pitching is still a big question mark as the Tigers upped their spring record to 5-9.

State of the Tigers: All Star Break

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 16th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Clete Thomas, Eddie Bonine, Edgar Renteria, Gary Sheffield, Joel Zumaya, Justin Verlander, Matt Joyce, Miguel Cabrera, Todd Jones, Zach Miner

The All Star break is nearly past.  We had fun watching Josh Hamilton put on a show during the Home Run Derby and that 15 innings marathon of an All Star Game certainly had its moments as well.  However, it’s time to come crashing back to reality.  The Tigers will play 17 of their first [...]

A Tale of Two Games

By Blake VandeBunte • Jul 10th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Eddie Bonine, Matt Joyce, Miguel Cabrera

Last night’s big come from behind win was terrific, I think we can all agree on that. However, I was at the game and can put a little spin on the game from my first hand account. Here’s how it all went down:

Cooked

By Blake VandeBunte • Jun 21st, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Casey Fossum, Eddie Bonine, Fernando Rodney, Joel Zumaya, Placido Polanco

The Tigers lost the opener of their series in San Diego last night.  They lost the opener in San Francisco.  They share a couple of things in common.  Great starting pitching by the Tiger starter and Fernando Rodney completely imploding on the mound.  Last night was a disaster for Rodney.
The Tigers trailed 2-1 heading into [...]

Easy Eddine Bonine

By Blake VandeBunte • Jun 14th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Eddie Bonine

The Tigers will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers today as they look to stay on their hot streak and ease back to respectability.
Starting on the mound today will be Eddie Bonine.  The Detroit Free Press has a great article about Bonine and his sense of humor, apparently the guy is quite funny.  He once [...]

D-Train Headed to Lakeland

By Blake VandeBunte • Jun 10th, 2008 • Category: 2008 season, Dontrelle Willis, Eddie Bonine

As many of us suggested, Dontrelle Willis will be heading to A ball affiliate, Lakeland.  Willis will face a lower level of talent down there -obviously- and will be a long way from Michigan and the distractions that come with big league pressure.  The hope here is that Willis will regain both his control and [...]
